Coral Discoverer refurbished ahead of 2024 Kimberley Season

One of our favourite Kimberley cruising small ships, Coral Discoverer has just returned to service following her annual refit and out-of-water survey period in Cairns.

In preparation for the upcoming 2024 Kimberley season, over $2 million was spent ensuring she remains in ‘tip top’ condition ahead of another busy season in Australia’s north west. Some of the works undertaken as part of the update include:

• The construction and installation of a new aft platform for Xplorer (excursion tender) operations

• New custom-made carpets laid throughout the dining room and bridge deck lounge public areas

• Installation of a new satellite navigation system in the bridge, new radars and dual ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display Information System)

• New anchor chain and anchor winch motor installation

• Three new LED display screens were installed in the bridge deck lounge to be used during lectures and presentations

• Remodelled Purser’s Desk and foyer

• Brand new mattresses were rolled out across all staterooms

• A new commercial marine cooktop oven and dishwasher units were installed in the galley.

Coral Discoverer accommodates just 72-travellers on her ten-night Kimberley cruises between Broome and Darwin and vice versa. Her 36 spacious staterooms offer a choice of twin or Junior King beds, private en suite and air-conditioning. There’s five grades of accommodation to choose from, from Main Deck Staterooms featuring a porthole through to the spacious Bridge Deck Balcony Staterooms.

Coral Discoverer’s flexible range of excursion tenders set her apart from many other ships of her size, with inflatable zodiacs available for shorter adventurous activities such as Horizontal Falls and Montgomery Reef, while her Xplorer excursion tender allows exploration of locations normally only accessible to much smaller ships.

Coral Discover is joined in the Kimberley each season by her two state-of-the-art sister ships Coral Adventurer (launched 2019) and Coral Geographer (launched 2021).

For a limited time, you can save between $500 and $1,500 per person off Coral Expeditions’ published Kimberley cruise fares when you book your 2024 Coral Discoverer, Coral Adventurer or Coral Geographer Kimberley cruise with Kimberley Cruise Specialists.
