One of the Kimberley’s most iconic and luxurious expedition ships, True North, is ready to kick off her 2020 Kimberley cruise season after returning to the water following her annual refit in Fremantle.
As True North’s discerning guests expect nothing but the best, no expense has been spared to ensure that the ship remains in showroom condition ahead of each and every Kimberley cruise.
During this year’s refurbishment, emphasis was placed on enhancing the design and functionality of the ship’s outer decks. The forward sundeck and alfresco bar areas were substantially upgraded to ensure more user friendly and, no doubt much-more enjoyable, spaces for guests to sit back and take in the majesty of the Kimberley Coast in enviable comfort.
The redesigned sundeck also features improved seating – and more of it – along with new tabletops and daybeds, mood lighting and stylish Tefroka decking. At the same time, the alfresco bar area has been upgraded to feature improved table arrangements, additional lighting and new decking. Further ship-wide enhancements included the installation of impressive Tefroka decking on all external stairs, extra soundproofing in the ship’s lounge and the complete repainting of the exterior of the vessel.
Craig Howson, a true pioneer of Kimberley cruising and Managing Director of True North, is excited by both the extra usable space and improved passenger amenity the upgrades have delivered. He commented that “we were aware that these areas of the ship were being underutilised – they have always been fantastic spaces, but we needed to make some improvements to ensure that our guests were able to take full advantage of both areas. This year’s refit provided the maintenance window that we have been looking for and now I can’t wait to join our guests as they relax in even greater style than before.”
The 36-passenger True North kicks off her 2020 Kimberley cruise season with the first of three 10-night Kimberley Waterfalls expeditions departing on 19 March. There’s still a small number of cabins available on these cruises, ideally timed to take in the best of the region’s big waterfalls immediately after the wet season.
Then, in mid April, she will commence a series of ultimate 13-night Kimberley cruises from Wyndham to Broome, coupled with the shorter 7-night Kimberley Snapshot expedition, the perfect option for guests with limited time to experience all of the Kimberley’s iconic locations.
